Day Camps

There’s no time like the present to discover the past!

If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind, family-friendly, summer day camp experience in New Brunswick, look no further! During the month of August, Kings Landing will be offering day camps for children, youth, and families.

These day camps offer hands-on, age-appropriate ways to experience 19th century, daily life along the St. John River. From feeding animals and working in the trade shops, to domestic work like baking and fibre processing; Kings Landing provides a wholesome learning environment for all ages and adheres to all recommended COVID-19 protocols.

Program Options

Each program is catered to the groups’ size and interest. At this time, all programs are offered in English only.

Fun on the Farm

Recommended for ages 7-11
Group size: 2-8 participants

Do you have an animal lover in the family? This is the perfect day camp for them! Children will be involved in caring for farm animals, milking the cow, butter making, wool processing, school, games, social etiquette and more 19th century farmyard fun. Each day will wrap up with a horse and wagon ride and children will leave with a gift bag containing memories of Kings Landing.

$50 per day
Book 3 or more days in August: $45 per day

Time Travellers

Recommended for ages 12-15
Group size: 2-4 participants

It’s a waaaaay back adventure unlike any other: one that will leave you with a new appreciation for the past. Travel through 200 years of history in this fun day camp program. Take part in games, activities and crafts that were popular in the 19th century. The journey will take you as far back as 1820, where you’ll explore the traditions of the settlers along the St. John River. Time Travellers will focus on the 19th century roles and responsibilities of young teens, including apprenticeship. You can choose to focus on either domestic or trades activities and will create a unique keepsake to take home.

Domestic: caring for animals, milking the cow, butter making, fibre processing (ie. Flax, wool, etc.), weaving, hand sewing, baking (wall oven, bake kettle, and/or wood stove).

Trades: blacksmithing, printing, carpentry, milling (ie. Sawmill), farming.

Both: Etiquette, schooling, games, snack, wagon ride.

$50 per day
Book 3 or more days in August: $45 per day

Family Camp

Recommended for families with school-aged children
Group size: Max. of 6 participants

Now is your chance to step back in time and experience the Kings Landing way-of-life with your family! Family camps will be customized to the unique interests and ages of each family. Families can stay together for the entire day or separate activities can be arranged for adults while the children attend the one-room schoolhouse. Hands-on fun may include: farming, feeding the animals, collecting eggs, milking the cow, butter making, herbs & medicine preparations, tea time, baking, fibre processing, sewing, rug hooking, weaving, quilting, milling, blacksmithing, printmaking, carpentry, attending school, 19th century games, and more!

Family of 2: $100 per day
Family of 3: $140 per day
Family of 4: $180 per day
Family of 5: $215 per day
Family of 6: $245 per day

Registration:

Because our Day Camps can be customized to your interests, we need to spend some time chatting with you prior to your arrival. To register, please leave us a message with your name, campers’ names and ages, a phone number, and the best time to call you back.  Registration will be completed over the phone.

Registration deadlines are as follows:

  • July 31 for camp on August 5, 6, and/or 7
  • August 7 for camp on August 12, 13, and/or 14
  • August 14 for camp on August 19, 20, and/or 21
  • August 21 for camp on August 29, 30, and/or 31


Attire:

We encourage campers to dress the part! Here are some suggestions:

  • Jeans, white or plaid shirt, straw hat, suspenders;
  • Dress below the knee, pinafore or apron, bonnet;
  • The Peddler’s Market, our gift shop, has bonnets, straw hats, and wool hats available for purchase;
  • A vest & hat or apron & bonnet will be available to borrow for the day, if desired.

What to Bring:

  • Backpack (Participant must be able to carry it)
  • Lunch
  • Water bottle
  • Hat (19th Century or modern style)
  • Comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes
  • Hand sanitizer (gel and/or wipes)
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray (optional)

Lunches and snacks

Participants are required to bring their own lunch each day. Snacks are provided, but campers are welcome to bring their own, if desired. Please include an ice pack in the lunch box. Access to a microwave or refrigerator is not available. Additional information, such as group allergies, will be forwarded once registration is confirmed.
