“Depends Upon The Pay” – Album Launch Party
Save the Date: August 2 – 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Tickets: $10 At the Door.
New Brunswick folk music has found a home in Mike Bravener’s New Album, “Depends Upon The Pay.” Join us at the King’s Head Inn on August 2 at 5:30 p.m. as we launch this album with “one-heck-of-a” kitchen party. Featuring live music from the album, signature cocktails, and a traditional New Brunswick backdrop, this is the event we’ve all been waiting for.
By day, Bravener travels back in time to 19th century, rural New Brunswick where he interprets the life of Abraham Munn. Like many men in his day, Munn was a farmer and lumberman. However, he does have a unique claim to fame. Munn put the music together for many well-known Miramichi folksongs such as “The Dungarvon Whooper 2” and “Peter Emberley.”
Bravener has travelled the province collecting stories and songs that define New Brunswick. Through “Depends Upon the Pay,” Bravener has reimagined 14 traditional, New Brunswick folk songs and now shares Munn’s claim to fame for setting music to them. He’s kept the melodies as close to the original as possible, but has made them fresh and new for a 21st century audience.
“Depends Upon The Pay” was created after Bravener received a grant from Music NB and many who preordered the album.
Join us as we kick loose and celebrate Bravener’s album launch and his efforts to preserve New Brunswick’s musical heritage.
The King’s Head Inn’s takeout and pub will be open for food and drink during the event.
This launch party will adhere to all provincial regulations for social gatherings required as of August 2, 2020.
