Meet the Artist in Residence: Sylvie Goguen
Originally from the small village of Shediac Bridge, in southeastern New Brunswick, Sylvie Goguen grew up and still lives today in this quiet corner in the heart of Acadia. She holds a certificate in graphic design from the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick – Dieppe (1996) and has successfully pursued a career as a graphic designer for over 30 years. In 2013, she wanted to explore new facets of her artistic voice, so she returned to school to discover the mediums of visual arts where she obtained, in 2025, her Bachelor of Visual Arts from the Université de Moncton with concentrations in painting and printmaking. Her recent graduation exhibition, entitled “Open Conversation,” paid tribute to her maternal grandfather, Joseph Poirier. This exhibition is on display at the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre. In her artistic work, she places particular value on certain objects, whose sentimental connection connects her to past events or to a loved one.
