Candlemaking – July 27
Step back in time at our candle-making workshop in a historic village! From wax to wick, learn the art of candle-making as you craft your own unique candles with expert guidance. An interpreter will share the fascinating history of candle-making techniques while you mold and shape your creations. Leave with a handmade keepsake to brighten your home! 

Rug hooking – August 17
Join us for a hands-on rug hooking workshop at the Joslin Farm! Discover the rich history of rug hooking in the region while learning this timeless craft. Our expert instructors will guide you through the process, from technique to tradition, as you create your own unique design. Don’t miss this chance to experience history up close and leave with a beautiful piece of art! 

Reflector Oven and Open Hearth Cooking Workshop – August 24
Experience the flavors of history while gaining valuable cooking skills to bring home! Discover New Brunswick’s culinary history as you learn traditional cooking techniques using an open hearth and reflector oven. Expert interpreters will show you how to prepare and cook authentic dishes from the past. Price includes admission to Kings Landing and light refreshments.

Root Cellar and Preservation Workshop – August 31 – SOLD OUT!
Explore the art of food preservation at our historic village workshop! Learn about root cellars, traditional winter food storage, and New Brunswick’s culinary history. Through hands-on demonstrations, you’ll discover canning, pickling, and other preservation techniques used by early settlers. Gain practical skills while uncovering the fascinating methods that kept food fresh through the long winters.

 

Price: $50 for seasonpassholders and $60 for general public plus online booking fees (taxes, admission and supplies included).

Workshops run from 1pm to 4pm. Price includes admission to Kings Landing and light refreshments.
Maximum of six people per workshop (maximum of four at the Root Cellar and Preservation Workshop). Ages 16 and up.
Accessibility notes: Workshops take place at historic buildings within the village. Please indicate any accessibility concerns when purchasing your ticket.
